Term One
Term one was all about learning the dangers of the tools, and the precautions we should take when using them. We walked around, learning the name of each machine, what it does, and that it was not the way to go. This is a list of the tools we would later use regularly.
Personalized Magnet
After our intense training course, we were presented with a project: to construct a magnet that would be used to identify our spot on the file tower. I decided to create a lightbulb to symbolize the many ideas I get. After getting my design aproved by Mr. Ramos, I carefully traced it onto a plank of wood, which I then cut out. After sanding the edges, I drilled a small indent in the back for the magnet. Next, I painted the entire thing yellow, and covered the bottom with tin foil. I think that the finished project was a success. This really was a great first project, as it used almost every machine we have learned about, and it tested our skills. If i were to do the project again, I would choose a more complex design, now that I am more experienced.
- Bandsaw
- Compound Miter saw
- Belt Sander
- Jointer
- Palm Sander
- Heat Gun
